New Delhi: Tata AutoComp and Skoda Group, a leading European manufacturer of public transport components and vehicles, have announced a joint venture to manufacture railway propulsion systems and components, supporting the fast-growing Indian railway and mobility sectors, NDTV reported.

The newly formed entity, jointly owned by the two companies, will manufacture converters, drives, and auxiliary converters for medium- to high-speed trains, metros, and light rail vehicles.

Production will take place in India, backed by a multi-million-euro investment.

The venture is expected to deliver both technological and economic value to the region.

The signing ceremony was held at the Hotel Taj Mahal in New Delhi, attended by senior officials from both firms and Ing. Eva Kopecka, Head of the Commercial and Economic Section at the Czech Embassy in India.

“Tata AutoComp has consistently led the way in delivering advanced technological solutions to its customers. Our collaboration with Skoda Group is set to enhance our footprint in the Indian Railway and Metro sector by enabling the introduction of state-of-the-art electrical propulsion systems and components.

"We value this partnership with Skoda Group, a globally recognized provider of high-quality railway technologies,” said Arvind Goel, Vice-Chairman, Tata AutoComp.

Manoj Kolhatkar, MD & CEO of Tata AutoComp, added, “We are delighted to collaborate with Skoda Group, a global player in the public transport industry. This partnership improves our market presence in the Railway domain and will contribute to safe and efficient solutions for Indian Railway and Metro segments.”

Under the partnership, components will be manufactured in India by Tata AutoComp with technical expertise and support from Skoda Group.

Building on Tata AutoComp's established role in the Indian railway market and its contributions to the 'Vande Bharat' project, the venture aims to create a sustainable, long-term alliance with significant industry impact.
