Sensex recovers over 100 points in opening session

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Thursday recovered 139.58 pts at 55,520.85 in the opening session as buying was seen in consumer durable, oil and gas and power stocks.

The Nifty rose 15.25 pts at 16,538.00.

The sensex registered days high and low at 55,645.88 and 55,135.11 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,586 and 16,443.05 pts respectively.

The Mid cap fell 0.44 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.26 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.

The gainers were Reliance Industries by 2.44 pc to Rs 2,696.50, Bajaj Finserv by 1.49 pc to Rs 12,786.20, TCS by 1.30 pc to Rs 3,400.05, Nestle India by 1.16 pc to Rs 17,438.15 and Infosys by 1.02 pc to Rs 1,494.

The losers were Hind Unilever by 1.37 pc to Rs 2,277, HDFC by 1.29 pc to Rs 2,298.85, Powergrid by 0.90 pc to Rs 227, HDFC Bank by 0.88 pc to Rs 1,384 and ICICI Bank by 0.78 pc to Rs 746.80.
