Sensex at new high, opens at 61,304.29 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday opened at new high at 61,304.29, advancing 119 points on strong global cues.

The Nifty too rose 21.10 points at 18,223.90.

On Tuesday, there was no trading on account of 'Gurunanak Jayanti'.

The equity market remained strong on Wednesday too.

The stocks like Finance, IT, Industrials and Technology boosted the market.

The Sensex registered intra day high and low at 61,447.23 and 61,226.58 points, respectively.

The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 18,296.40 and 18,220.75 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.14 percent while Small Cap went up by 0.17 percent.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 1.76 percent to Rs 1,164.55, HCL Technology by 1.16 percent to Rs 1,059.20, Infosys by 1.02 percent to Rs 1,522.35, Dr Reddy's Lab by 1.01 percent to Rs 4,531 and ITC by 0.91 percent to Rs 356.65.

The losers were Tech Mahindra by 1.67 percent to Rs 1,035.95, Powergrid by 1.23 percent to Rs 225.20 and Tata Steel by 0.48 per cent to Rs 105.60.
