Seoul/UNI: Samsung manufactured over 300 million smartphones, which includes those manufactured by its own units as well as its manufacturing partners, in 2021.

According to a report published in The Elec, "it manufactured 238.88 million units on its own.

"Over 60 million units were manufactured through joint development manufacturers such as Wintech and Huaqin.

"In total, Samsung made slightly over 300 million smartphones. The production volume indicates that Samsung shipped late-200 million units of smartphones last year".

However, the company had aimed to ship 300 million units last year. It faced production problems in Vietnam due to Covid-19 and global chip shortages.

The report says, this year the company is aiming to ship 334 million smartphones -- 285 manufactured by its own units and the rest from joint development manufacturers.
