Reliance Retail acquires Kelvinator to bolster play in consumer durables
Mumbai: Reliance Retail has acquired the iconic home appliance brand Kelvinator as part of its broader push into the fast-growing consumer durables segment, The Economic Times reported on Friday.
The company did not disclose the value of the deal.
Reliance said the acquisition will allow it to blend Kelvinator’s legacy of quality and trust with its extensive retail footprint, strengthening its position in the domestic appliances market.
Kelvinator, once a household name across India in the 1970s and ’80s, became synonymous with durable and affordable appliances, popularised by its memorable tagline, “The Coolest One.”
Isha M Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL), said the acquisition reflects the group’s commitment to bringing accessible and future-ready technology to Indian consumers.
She added that Kelvinator’s integration will help Reliance offer reliable global products at scale, supported by its wide distribution and robust service network.
Reliance believes the move will deepen its customer connect, accelerate growth in the durables category, and unlock long-term value in an evolving domestic market.
