Reliance Consumer Products forays into healthy beverages with stake in Naturedge

Bengaluru: Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has entered the fast-growing functional beverages segment by acquiring a majority stake in a joint venture with Naturedge Beverages Private Limited.

The partnership strengthens RCPL’s bid to become a “total beverage company” by adding herbal and natural offerings to its portfolio.

Naturedge, founded in 2018 by Siddhesh Sharma of the Baidyanath Group, is known for its flagship zero-sugar drink Shunya, infused with super herbs such as Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Khus, Kokum and Green Tea.

“Within a very short span of time, Shunya has gained wide popularity among health-conscious consumers as it offers the benefits of herbs in contemporary formats. It also fits perfectly with RCPL’s vision of providing quality products at affordable prices,” said Ketan Mody, Executive Director, RCPL.

Naturedge director Sharma called the deal “a testament of Shunya’s rapidly growing acceptability,” adding that RCPL’s distribution network would help make the brand a pan-India offering.

RCPL, set up in 2022, has been expanding its beverage business with acquisitions such as Campa, the launch of Campa Energy, and Raskik.

The addition of Shunya will allow the company to extend its range into herb-infused waters, energy drinks, and other healthy alternatives.
