Gurugram: Maruti Suzuki’s Board has approved the establishment of a third plant at Kharkhoda, Haryana, to expand its production capacity, The Economic Times reported.

The new facility will add up to 2.5 lakh vehicles per year, bringing the total output at Kharkhoda to 7.5 lakh units annually by 2029, the company said in an exchange filing on Wednesday.

The investment for this expansion is estimated at ₹7,410 crore.

The Kharkhoda site currently produces 2.5 lakh vehicles annually, with a second plant under construction that will add another 2.5 lakh units.

Maruti Suzuki achieved a milestone in 2024 by producing over 20 lakh vehicles in a calendar year for the first time, making it the first Suzuki Motor Corporation facility worldwide to do so.

Nearly 60% of these vehicles were manufactured at its Haryana plants, while the remaining 40% came from its Gujarat facility.

The 2 millionth vehicle, an Ertiga, was produced at the company’s Manesar plant.

Maruti Suzuki is also planning a new greenfield facility with an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units and is in the process of selecting a location for the project.
