Markets close lower on Friday

Mumbai, Jun 10 (IBNS): Indian benchmark indices fell further on Friday with the Sensex down 127.71 points to 26635.75, and the Nifty down 33.55 points to 8170.05.

The decline in the market was largely due to selling in a few top-ranking and leading companies and weak global cues, according to media reports.

The top gainers included BHEL, NTPC, Lupin, Hindalco, YES Bank, ACC, Ambuja Cements, Reliance and Bharti Airtel while Tata Steel, GAIL, Coal India, Tata Motors and SBI ended as losers.

Investors also chose to remain cautious during the day ahead of the release of April industrial production data scheduled to be released later on Friday.
