L&T secures over ₹15,000 cr Adani Power contract for 8 thermal units
Mumbai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday announced that it had won an ultra-mega contract from Adani Power to build eight thermal power units, each with a capacity of 800 MW.
In L&T’s classification, ultra-mega contracts are valued above ₹15,000 crore, according to a Financial Express report.
The order will be handled by L&T Energy-CarbonLite Solutions (LTECLS), the company’s dedicated business vertical for advanced power and low-carbon technologies.
Scope of the project
The project scope includes end-to-end design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and commissioning of boiler-turbine-generator packages, as well as auxiliaries and related mechanical, electrical, and control & instrumentation systems.
L&T eyes growth in energy infrastructure
“In today’s dynamic energy landscape, where India’s demand for reliable and affordable power continues to grow, this order from the Adani Group reinforces our role as a leading partner in building the country’s critical energy infrastructure,” said Subramanian Sarma, deputy managing director & president, L&T.
The company expects total order prospects worth ₹15 lakh crore by March 31, 2026, with 60% likely from international markets and the rest domestic. Of this, around ₹8 lakh crore is anticipated from infrastructure, ₹6 lakh crore from hydrocarbons, and ₹1 lakh crore from carbonlite projects.
Adani Power’s expansion plans
The announcement follows Adani Power’s recent receipt of a letter of intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company to develop and supply 2,274 MW to the state from a proposed 2,400 MW thermal project in Bhagalpur district.
Adani Power aims to add 12,520 MW of capacity organically by March 2030, according to an investor presentation.
