Infosys to open software development centre in West Bengal

Bengaluru/ Kolkata, Aug 13 (IBNS): Tech giant Infosys on Monday announced the commencement of work on its new software development center in Kolkata, West Bengal.

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, recently laid the foundation stone for the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub in Kolkata where the project is located.

As part of this project spread over 50 acres, Infosys will invest approximately INR 100 crores in the first phase of construction to build a 525,000 square feet facility, in which the company will create employment for 1000 engineers initially.

The first phase of the project will be completed within 15 months from the date of obtaining all statutory clearances.

“I congratulate the Government of West Bengal on laying the foundation stone for the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub, here in Kolkata. On this special occasion, I would like to thank the Honorable Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, for giving Infosys a unique opportunity to be a part of this prestigious project, and further strengthen our presence across the country,” said, Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys.
