IndiGo posts ₹2,176 cr Q1FY26 profit despite sector headwinds
Gurugram: IndiGo reported a net profit of ₹2,176 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, marking a resilient performance amid geopolitical tensions, airspace restrictions, and a recent tragic aviation accident in Ahmedabad.
While this profit was 20.2% lower than the ₹2,729 crore recorded in the same quarter last year, passenger demand remained strong.
The airline carried 31 million passengers during the quarter, up 11.6% year-on-year.
Revenue from operations rose 4.7% to ₹20,496 crore, driven by a 7.8% rise in ticket sales and a 22.1% surge in ancillary income.
Total income stood at ₹21,542 crore, up 6.4% from the year-ago period.
However, yields dropped by 5% to ₹4.98 per km, and the load factor dipped 2.1 percentage points to 84.6%.
Capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), increased 16.4% to 42.3 billion.
On the cost side, total expenses rose 10.2% to ₹19,231 crore, with fuel costs down 9.1% but other expenses rising 21.5%.
The airline’s unit cost (CASK) decreased 6.8%, but CASK excluding fuel rose 2.5%.
CEO Pieter Elbers noted that despite external challenges, demand remained robust, calling the airline’s performance a “testament to the team’s resilience and operational strength.”
He added that the airline is well-positioned for future growth owing to its scale, network, and efficient fleet.
As of June 30, IndiGo had a fleet of 416 aircraft and operated flights to 91 domestic and 41 international destinations. Its cash balance stood at ₹49,405 crore, with total debt at ₹68,488 crore.
Looking ahead, the airline expects mid to high single-digit capacity growth in Q2 FY26 and continues to invest in enhancing customer experience and operational performance.
IndiGo also bagged three awards at the 2025 BIAL Pinnacle Awards, including ‘Network Airline of the Year’ and ‘Airline of the Year – International (Short Haul)’.
