Indian Market: Sensex recovers over 200 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday recovered 220.08 points at 54,272.69 in opening session on the strength of FMCG, Finance, Health Care and Bankex stocks.

The Nifty too rose 47.70 points at 16,172.85.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 54,379.59 and 54,219.57 points respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,223.35 and 16,172.65 points respectively.

The Mid cap fell 0.19 per cent and Small Cap by 0.11 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 2.44 per cent to Rs 920.40, Nestle India by 1.71 per cent to Rs 17,482.10, Ultracemco by 1.62 per cent to Rs 5964.10, Kotak Bank by 1.58 per cent to Rs 1910.50 and ICICI Bank by 1.25 per cent to Rs 12518.55.

The losers were Asian Paints by 2.70 per cent to Rs 3003.10, Tech Mahindra by 2.37 per cent to Rs 1072, TCS by 1.94 per cent to Rs 3224.40 and HCL Technology by 1.20 per cent to Rs 980.
