Mumbai, Oct 31 (IBNS): The Indian stock markets remained closed on Monday but conducted business on Sunday as it was the first day of Samvat 2073, the Hindu calendar year, according to media sources.

However, the benchmark indices closed marginally lower on Sunday with Sensex down 11 points at 27,930.21 and Nifty down 12 points at 8,625.70.

According to media reports, the US Presidential elections on Nov 8 and the US Federal Reserve's movements weighed on market sentiments.

On Monday, Asian stocks took a jolt on the news of a renewed FBI probe of US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a personal email server, media reported.

The Exchanges will reopen on Nov 1, Tuesday.
