From ASML to Philips: CEOs who met PM Modi in Netherlands
Narendra Modi and Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten on Saturday held high-level discussions with prominent CEOs of leading Dutch companies across sectors, including energy, ports, healthcare, agriculture, trade, logistics and technology, underscoring the deepening economic partnership between India and the Netherlands.
The business leaders presented their strategies for India under three key clusters — Semiconductors, Technology and Innovation; Infrastructure, Logistics and Maritime; and Sustainability, Energy and Agriculture — highlighting future investment and collaboration plans.
Ahead of the meeting, a landmark agreement was signed between ASML and Tata Electronics in the presence of the two Prime Ministers.
The leaders welcomed the partnership, which will support India’s first front-end semiconductor fabrication plant (FAB) at Dholera, Gujarat, marking a major milestone in India’s efforts to become a global semiconductor manufacturing hub.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed the growing business-to-business ties between India and the Netherlands and appreciated the increasing interest of Dutch companies in India’s fast-growing economy.
Highlighting India’s recent economic reforms and policy initiatives, Modi stressed the government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and create a stable, efficient and predictable policy environment for investors.
He encouraged Dutch companies to explore opportunities in key sectors including:
- Maritime and port infrastructure
- Renewable energy
- Digital technologies
- Semiconductors
- Artificial intelligence
- Healthcare and medtech
Both Prime Ministers also called for the early implementation of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), noting that the pact would reinforce India and the EU as trusted partners committed to open markets, inclusive growth and resilient supply chains.
Industry leaders praised the Government of India’s reform-driven agenda and expressed strong interest in expanding their footprint in the country.
