Kolkata, July 7 (IBNS): Setting a guideline for the industrialists, Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu on Saturday said the exporters must understand the changing trends in global trades.

Prabhu, who is also the Civil Aviation Minister, made the comment during an interactive session organised by the the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in the city.

The session was organised to discuss foreign trade policy, export promotion schemes, Goods and Services Tax (GST), logistics and infrastructure issues.

Prabhu emphasised on "team work" for exports.

He said: "Team work is very critical for exports. We have to set standards for all products and services."

On behalf of his ministry, Prabhu said: "All should be assured of one thing that we will do everything possible to promote exports of India....We are proactively working."

The Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his activities to bring businesses to the country.

"Our PM in a way is promoting export by establishing critical relationship through his personal contacts globally. Many leaders of the world vying with one another to do business in India is unimaginable."

The session was attended by leading exporters of Eastern India, Heads of Export Promotion Councils, Chambers of Commerce and other International Trade related organizations.

Senior  officers from Ministry of Commerce, DGFT, DGCIS, Chief Commissioner Customs, Chairman KOPT and other senior government officials.

Nari Kalwani, Regional Chairman of FIEO Eastern Region stated that trade restrictive measures, volatility in currencies and liquidity challenges were rising threats to India’s exporters’ community.

He stressed on the need for streamlining infrastructure and logistics issues to boost exports from Eastern Region.

Ganesh Kumar Gupta, President, FIEO stated that the Govt. has taken proactive measures for gaining market access in China, amidst rising protectionism in developed countries.
