Adventure tourism shall be a major career option in the days to come says Arijit Dutta, Managing Director of Kolkata-based Priya Entertainments Pvt Ltd.

Datta is the owner of the iconic Priya cinema apart from the Bioscope brand of multiplexes.

Under his brand Eco Adventure Resorts, the Khairabera Eco Adventure Resorts in Purulia has become very popular.

The latest is a tie up with the Sikkim Government for setting up the Temi Tea Eco Adventure Resorts in Sikkim.

Khairabera Eco Adventure Resorts (KEARS), which recently bagged one of the best tented accommodations by Incredible India, is already one of the major attractions in West Bengal among tourists across India and abroad within a span of just two years.

KEARS, an international standard eco adventure tourist spot in Purulia  is also undergoing expansion and by 2019-20 it shall be India’s premiere tourist attraction with additional rooms and facilities, said Dutta.

Temi Eco Adventure Resorts is also coming up at a fast pace and is expected to open its gates to tourists by 2019

Arijit Dutta, in an exclusive interaction, mentioned that India's potential in the field of travel and tourism is hardly close to being fulfilled.

According to a report published by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), India could possibly add another Rs. 8, 50,000 crores by the year 2020, just through tourism, he said.

WTTC calculated that tourism generated 8.31 lakh crore or 6.3 per cent of the nation's GDP in 2015 and supported 37.315 million jobs, which is about 8.7 per cent of its total employment.

The travel and tourism industry, along with the related sectors contributing to it, is expected to grow in leaps and bounds in the coming years, according to industry experts

A job in this industry can be exciting and adventurous and even well paying. In India, the travel industry hopes to create 46 million job opportunities by 2025, said Dutta.

Although it was slow to take off in this country, the government's initiatives in this field are uncovering a bright future for those who want to make a career in this field.

More adventurous tourists get the more possibility of exploring new destinations and recreation arise, there is a growing need for qualified adventure instructors, according to the Priya Entertainments MD.

Adventure tourism offers careers as an Adventure Tour operator, Tour Guide, Safari Guide, Travel and Information Consultant, Diver, Adventure Sports Trainer, Adventure Photographer, Wildlife Photographer and many more.

Employment opportunities arise with tour companies, eco adventure resorts, holiday resorts, leisure camps, excursion agencies, commercial recreation centers and sports centers.

This gives a career option of setting set up their own adventure sports center in their area of specialization.
