Diesel gets cheaper by 5-6 paise a litre, petrol unchanged
New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI): After three days of no change in fuel prices, Thursday witnessed a drop in diesel prices by 5-6 paise a litre while petrol rates remained unchanged.
In Delhi, petrol was retailing at Rs 69.93 per litre and diesel stood at Rs 63.78 per litre, a six-paise decrease from yesterday's Rs 63.84.
In Mumbai, while petrol was valued at Rs 75.63 per litre, diesel retailed at Rs 66.87 a litre, (from yesterday's 66.93 a litre.)
According to the Indian Oil Corporation, petrol was retailing at Rs 72.19 per litre in Kolkata, while diesel costs Rs 65.70 a litre as compared from Wednesday's 65.76 per litre.
Petrol in Chennai retailed at Rs 72.64 per litre while diesel cost Rs 67.46 a litre (on Wednesday, it cost Rs 67.52 a litre).
In Noida, petrol was available at a price of Rs 69.94 per litre and diesel stood at Rs 63.27 a litre.
While petrol in Gurugram was priced at Rs 70.46 a litre, diesel was being sold at Rs 63.36.
As per the country's dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon International fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.
The price of the two fuels retailing at the petrol pumps is calculated after adding central excise duty, dealers commission and value-added tax (VAT) to the base price.
The prices are revised at 0600 hrs daily, while earlier, they used to be revised every fortnight.
