Currency Ban: Kailash Satyarthi lauds move, congratulates PM Modi

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IBNS): Nobel laureate and child rights activist, Kailash Satyarthi lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to ban 500 and 1000 Indian Rupee notes in order to curb black money.

Satyarthi took to Twitter to laud the move and congratulate Modi.

"Crimes like Human Trafficking and Child labour contributes largely to black money. Congrats PM @narendramodi for this bold step. @PMOIndia," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi replied, "This is a very insightful point of view shared by @k_satyarthi ji."

Thought the opposition parties have slammed this move, PM Modi found support from several corners.

"#PresidentMukherjee welcomed bold step of Government of India which will help unearth unaccounted money & counterfeit currency," a tweet from the official Twitter handle of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee read.

The currency ban also receive wide support from sportsmen and celebrities alike.

Popular actor Kamal Haasan tweeted, "Salute Mr. Modi. This move has to be celebrated across political party lines. Most importantly by earnest tax payers."

Legendary woman boxer MC Mary Kom twitted, "New currency notes to bring better futures for our nation. Great great decision and right policy @narendramodi."
