BMW Group India hits 5,000 EV deliveries, launches 4,000 km charging corridor from Jammu to Madurai
New Delhi: BMW Group India announced that it has delivered over 5,000 electric vehicles, becoming the first luxury carmaker in the country to achieve this milestone.
To commemorate the achievement, the company unveiled a high-power charging corridor covering 4,000 km from northern to southern India, aimed at easing range concerns and strengthening the charging ecosystem for long-distance EV travel, Hindustan Times reported.
Marking the occasion, Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, "BMW Group India is immensely proud to become the first luxury carmaker to cross the remarkable milestone of 5,000 electric vehicle deliveries. The corridor, aligned with major national highways, connects key cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubbali, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Madurai.
Charging stations are placed roughly every 300 km, ensuring easy access for EV drivers.
BMW confirmed that these facilities will be available for customers of all EV brands, the report said.
The company said the locations were chosen for convenience, with chargers near public amenities such as dining outlets, while drivers can also use in-car entertainment during charging breaks.
The stations, offering between 120 kW and 720 kW, will support fast charging for modern EVs.
BMW is developing and operating these stations in collaboration with partners including Statiq and Zeon.
Through the myBMW app and in-car systems, EV owners will be able to access integrated digital services such as live charger availability, filtering by capacity, and nearby amenity details.
A dedicated Charging Concierge service will also assist with route planning and provide a unified payment solution.
This new corridor complements BMW’s existing EV charging network, which already includes nearly 300 BMW Destination Chargers installed at hotels, resorts, and shopping malls across India.
Overall, BMW Group India provides access to over 6,000 charging points through its tie-ups with major public charging networks.
