5G Auction: Reliance Jio to bid up to Rs 60,ooo cr, Airtel up to Rs 50,000 cr, says report

Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharati Airtel are expected to bid for the 5G spectrum rights in the range of Rs 55,000-Rs 60,00 crore and Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000 crore, respectively, in the airwave auction going to start on July 26, ET reported, citing experts and analysts.

Cash-strapped Vodafone Idea (Vi) is likely to bid worth Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 6,000 crore whereas Adani Group through its Adani Data Networks is likely to bid for Rs 13,000 to Rs 15,000 crore, the report added.

The report said that the competition is likely to be intense, especially in the coveted but expensive bandwidth of 3.3 to 3.67 GHz. This could push the price of the band 10 percent higher than base rate Rs 317 crore a unit, according to the analysts, the reports added.

They also expect the bidding companies to vie for the much cheaper but useful 26 GHz bandwidth, it said.

Jio and Airtel may have put in earnest money deposits of Rs 6,5000 to Rs 7,500 crore and Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 crore, respectively,  The people aware of the telecom spectrum bidding, said the report.
