Bulawayo, June 23 (IBNS):  Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa survived an apparent bomb attack and remained unhurt in Zimbabwe's Bulawayo city on Saturday, media reports said.

According to local news reports, an explosion hit White City Stadium in Bulawayo where Mnangagwa was addressing thousands of people at a campaign rally.

Presidential spokesman George Charamba was quoted by Zimbabwe's The Herald newspaper as saying: “President Mnangagwa has not been injured and is at Bulawayo State House. Investigations are underway and more details will be given to the public. There have been multiple attempts on the President’s life over the past five years.”

Several people have been reportedly injured in the incident.

"Unconfirmed reports indicate that Vice President Kembo Mohadi suffered leg injuries in the bomb blast. Minister of Water, Environment and Climate Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri was also injured," reported The Herald.
