Yemen: US airstrike on residential building in Sanaa kills 1

At least one person was killed and 15 others were injured after a US airstrike targeted a residential building in Yemen's capital Sanaa, media reports said.

A preliminary toll showed that "three children and two women" were among the injured due to the strike that took place in Asr, the western suburb of Sanaa, Xinhua news agency reported quoting Masirah TV.

Rescue Operation Going On

Rescuers reportedly rushed to the spot and searched the rubble for possible survivors.

Locals described the strike as 'very violent'.

Hours earlier, the TV channel reported that the U.S. military stationed in the Red Sea conducted fresh airstrikes on Yemen's northern province of Saada, targeting the areas around the province's namesake central city, a stronghold of the Houthis, without providing further details, reported Xinhua.

The US reportedly conducted the airstrike just hours after Houthis claimed to have launched attacks on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea and the Ben Gurion airport in central Israel.

The Israeli Army reportedly intercepted the attack on the airport.

Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell was quoted as saying by the US Department of Defense website: "U.S. Central Command forces initiated a series of operations consisting of precision strikes against Iran-backed Houthi targets across Yemen to restore freedom of navigation and reestablish American deterrence.

He said Houthi terrorists had launched missiles and one-way attack drones at U.S. warships over 170 times and at commercial vessels 145 times since 2023.

President Trump's Order

Sean Parnell said the operation, ordered by President Donald Trump, targets a group that has harassed U.S. and commercial vessels for years.

The President issued a warning on March 20, 2025, as strikes rocked Sanaa, Yemen, the Houthi-controlled capital, and Saada, a reported Houthi stronghold.

"They will be completely annihilated!" Trump declared. "It's not even a fair fight and never will be."
