US: Mass shooting at a New York nightclub, 11 people shot

New York/IBNS: At least 11 people have been shot in a mass shooting which took place at a nightclub in the New York city of the United States, media reports said.

The firing occurred at the Amazura Night Club in Queens.

Multiple gunshots were heard at around 11:45 pm.

The condition of the people who have been shot is not known yet.

This comes a day after 15 people were killed and at least 35 others were injured after a truck rammed into a crowd which was celebrating New Year in New Orleans on January 1.

A 42-year-old truck driver, who flew the ISIS flag while ramming into the crowd, has been identified as US Army veteran Shamsud-Din-Jabbar.

Jabbar, a resident of Texas who had served the US Army in Afghanistan, was shot by police soon after he rammed the vehicle into the crowd, is assumed to be not alone in carrying out the incident.

"The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism. We are aggressively running down all leads to identify any possible associates of the subject," the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement.
