A 61-year-old Alabama man was arrested after he failed to report about a 'dead relative' with whom he was staying at his residence for days.

The arrested person was identified as Leandrew Smith Jr.

Walker County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook: "Friday, deputies responded to 4th Avenue West in Sipsey in regards to a family member found dead inside the home."

"Investigators found that another person was living inside the home without reporting the death of the individual, who had been deceased for days, read the post.

Speaking on the offense, the post read: "Leandrew Smith Jr., age 61 of Sipsey, was charged with Abuse of Corpse and taken to the county jail where he remains on a $10,000 cash only bond."

The District Attorney ordered an autopsy to be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
