UNSC condemns attack at Jewish Museum in Brussels

| | May 30, 2014, at 05:43 pm
New York, May 30 (IBNS): The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has condemned "in the strongest terms" the recent terrorist attack against the Jewish Museum in Brussels, which resulted in loss of life and injuries and may have had a possible anti-Semitic motivation behind it.
A gunman reportedly shot dead two Israelis and a French woman at the museum during Saturday’s attack, which was also condemned by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon over the weekend.

The members of the Council, in a statement issued to the press on Wednesday night, expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and expressed their sympathy to all those injured in the attack, and to the peoples and Governments of Belgium, Israel and France.

“The members of the Security Council strongly condemned all forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, especially against an institution whose mission has always been to promote openness and tolerance,” stated the 15-member body.

Council members also reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is “criminal and unjustifiable,” and underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these “reprehensible” acts of terrorism to justice.
