Truckers coming into Canada from US must be fully vaccinated: Canadian govt

| @indiablooms | Jan 18, 2022, at 05:15 am

Ottawa/IBNS: The Canadian government has mandated truckers to be fully vaccinated when crossing into Canada from the United States effective Jan 14.

Canadian truckers must be vaccinated, as of Jan 14 to avoid quarantine and a pre-arrival molecular test, while unvaccinated will be turned back at the border.

Stephen Laskowski, the president of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), reportedly said this mandate could potentially cause some slowdowns at the border in the coming days and would widely impact the supply chain caused by driver shortages.

"As communicated to members earlier today, Government of Canada officials have provided additional information in the form of an FAQ document for industry, which includes questions submitted to CTA by members...in both English and French for further information: CTA continues to work with the American Trucking Associations and  U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding enforcement details of the U.S. mandate coming into effect on Jan 22," said a CTA news release on Jan 14.

"No further information has been made available but will be communicated as soon as possible," it added.
