Arkansas, Apr 28 (IBNS): At least 16 people were killed as tornadoes hit south-central United States, media reports said on Monday.

"There were cars flipped everywhere, there were people screaming," James Bryant, a Mississippi State University meteorology student, told CNN's "New Day" on Monday.

The tornadoes ripped through the region on Sunday and even continued overnight into Monday.

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe told CNN: " "It's devastating for the people who have lost property."

"It's even more devastating for those who have lost loved ones," he said.
