New York, June 12 (Just Earth News): United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned an attack carried out on Saturday near the Sayidda Zeinab shrine in a Damascus suburb of Syria, in which several civilians were killed and many others wounded.

A statement attributable to the Secretary-General's spokesperson said that according to reports from local monitor groups, several civilians, including women and children, were killed and many others wounded in the attack, which was claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da'esh).

“Those responsible for attacks on civilians must be held accountable,” the Secretary-General said.

Ban extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the Government of Syria, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
