Bangkok, Dec 6 (IBNS): Southern Thailand, including the popular tourist draws of Krabi, Koh Samui and Koh Pha-ngan, continues to battle heavy rains and floods, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The rains, which began on Friday, have already claimed 14 lives and affected thousands, local media reported.

Some areas have recorded up to 500mm or rainfall, when the average for the entire month of December for Thailand is 150 to 200 mm.

The flooding has affected ferry services, road and rail networks, with south-bound trains from Bangkok halted at various stations.

In India, inter-island shipping services affected the Andaman and Nicobar islands due to bad weather conditions, local reports said on Tuesday..
