Paris, Nov 18 (IBNS): Suspected mastermind of the Paris terror attacks Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who belongs from Belgium, has reportedly committed suicide during the police raid at Saint Denis on Wednesday.
"We have indications that Abbaod committed suicide in today's operation," French Ambassador Francois Richier told NDTV on Wednesday.

"We are waiting for final confirmation that Abdelhamid Abaaoud is dead. We have heard that Abaaoud committed suicide in today's operation," he added.

The seven-hour operation carried out by the French police and the Army to move into a house where Abaaoud was believed to be holed up at Saint-Denis area in the country, has ended.

According to reports, two to three terrorists were killed in  the operation.

A woman detonated a suicide bomb as gunfire and explosions kept rocking the Paris suburbs.

"Police terror raid near Paris ends with at least two killed, seven arrested," france24 reported.

The  target of the raid was Islamic State militant Abedelhamid Abaaoud, who was initially thought to have masterminded the  Paris attacks from Syria.

The operation came five days after the deadly terror attacks in Paris that killed 129 people.

The area was closed down and intermittent gunfire could still be heard.

French police officials have asked local residents not to leave their homes.
