Pakistani agencies accused of ‘forcibly disappearing’ woman, family demands justice

Family members of a woman who has been allegedly forcibly disappeared are demanding her immediate release, accusing Pakistan’s security and intelligence agencies of taking her into custody without due process.

Speaking at a press conference at the Hub–Lasbela Press Club on Friday, the brother of Fatima Muhammad Qasim said his sister was taken from their home in Akram Colony on the night of January 13, and her whereabouts have remained unknown since, according to The Balochistan Post.

“My sister Fatima has been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani agencies,” he alleged, demanding justice and transparency in the case.

He said the family had not been informed where Fatima was being held, nor were they told the charges under which she was allegedly detained.

“If there is any charge against her, she should be produced before a court,” he said, stressing that the continued lack of information amounted to a violation of her fundamental rights.

Reacting to the incident, the Baloch Women Forum (BWF) also raised concerns over the disappearance. In a post on X, the group said:
“The enforced disappearance of Fatima Baloch from Hub Chowki is an awkwardly tragic incident.”

Rights groups in Balochistan have repeatedly raised concerns over alleged enforced disappearances in the province, calling for accountability and adherence to legal procedures.
