New York imam killing: One arrested

New York, Aug 16 (IBNS): A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of an imam and his assistant in New York, media reports said.

According to reports, the arrested man has  been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

The suspect has been identified as Oscar Morel.

The suspect, Oscar Morel, 35, had been originally arrested Sunday night on charges related to a hit-and-run accident, NYPD Chief of Detectives Bob Boyce was quoted as saying by CNN during a press conference.

Imam Maulama Akonjee, 55, and his assistant, Thara Uddin, 64, were gunned down on Saturday.
