'Money can't buy taste or class': Netizens roast Jeff Bezos' wedding invite

Even as Billionaire Jeff Bezos' wedding to his fiancée, former journalist Lauren Sanchez, in Italy's Venice this weekend promises to be one of the year’s most star-studded events, the invitation card has landed itself in a pool of online criticisms.

A glimpse of the invite, obtained by ABC News, has triggered a wave of ridicule online.

The couple will exchange vows in a multi-day celebration on the picturesque island of San Giorgio Maggiore on Friday, June 27.

The wedding festivities, which kicked off on June 24, will unfold over several days and are expected to draw around 200 guests, including some of the biggest names in Hollywood, business, and politics.

The invitation's design is a collage of butterflies, birds, feathers, and shooting stars in shades of pink and blue, set against a stark white background.

The social media verdict of the wedding card is out, and it has been branded "atrocious" and "ugly" by them.

The card included a message requesting guests not to bring gifts. It read, "We are excited for you to join us! We have one early request: please, no gifts."

"Donations on your behalf are being made to the UNESCO Venice Office to safeguard this city's irreplaceable cultural heritage, to CORILA to restore the vital lagoon habitats that protect Venice's future, and to Venice."

"This magical place has gifted us unforgettable memories. Our hope is that through these efforts and by you joining us, Venice will continue to inspire wonder for generations to come," the invitation added.

While the intention appeared thoughtful, the visual presentation left netizens unimpressed.

Mocking the invite, one X user posted, "Was the invitation made in Microsoft Paint?"

Another remarked, "That invite is atrocious. Obviously, money can't buy taste or class."

"Wow, what an ugly announcement/invitation. With all the money he has they could have at least done something pretty and classy," said another.

I&#39;m guessing that just isn&#39;t…</p>&mdash; 💜 Pamela C 💜 (@auntie_wombat) <a href="https://twitter.com/auntie_wombat/status/1937871840145273089?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 25, 2025</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

"This invitation looks like an 11-year-old made it," wrote another user.

Even the lavish celebrations have not been welcomed by all.

Some Venetians and local activists have criticised the wedding’s scale and fanfare, calling it disruptive and at odds with the city’s ongoing battle against overtourism.
