Mogadishu, July 26 (IBNS): Two car bomb attacks close to the airport in Mogadishu city of Somalia have killed more than 10 people, media reports said.

The base for African Union (AU) peacekeepers is located near the spot where the attack took place.

"The militant Islamist group, al-Shabab, has said it was behind the blasts and its target was the AU force's headquarters," BBC reported.

British Embassy in Mogadishu condemned the attack and tweeted: "Sincerest condolences to families & friends of all those killed in this morning's senseless explosions in #Mogadishu #Somalia."

African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) tweeted: "#AMISOM condemns these senseless attacks that aim to disrupt & cripple the lives of ordinary Somalis. These attacks must be stopped #Somalia."
