Military aviation analyst Tom Cooper says Pakistan is massively misusing religion

| @indiablooms | May 16, 2025, at 03:21 pm

Military aviation analyst and historian Tom Cooper feels that Pakistan is 'massively misusing religion' and breeding jihadism, a situation that is not expected to change.

Coopera told ANI that religion-based terrorism has spread to Nigeria and the Philippines.

"They (Pakistan) are massively misusing religion in particular, creating de facto breeding jihadism, financing, organising, commanding jihadism, through the history from Nigeria in West Africa to the Philippines in the Pacific. So, well in this regards, nothing is going to change. I do not expect anything to change," he told the news agency.

He said military dictatorship has plagued Pakistan.

"The relationship between Pakistani military and civilian leadership was never good. There are several coups and the country was subjected to military dictatorship through much of its history. So this issue is never going to be sorted out. The armed forces in Pakistan have their own aims," he said.

He made the comments amid the recent escalation of conflict between India and Pakistan following April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 on nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and PoK.

Pakistan targeted several Indian cities with drones and missiles which were neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces.

Rajnath Singh Remarks On IMF Funding To Pakistan

Indin Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday raised an objection against the International Monetary Fund (IMF)'s $1 billion funding to Pakistan and urged the international financial organisation to reconsider its decision.

Addressing the Indian Air Force (IAF) officers at Bhuj airbase in Gujarat, Singh equated IMF's funding to Pakistan with the direct or indirect funding to terrorism.

Singh said, "I believe Pakistan will spend a large portion of the funds received from the International Monetary Fund on terror infrastructure in its country. I want to ask the world, will the funding from the IMF not be considered as an indirect funding on terror?

"I believe any kind of economic assistance to Pakistan is nothing short of terror-funding. India wants the IMF to re-think its $1 billion assistance to Pakistan..."
