Massive earthquake hits Japan

Tokyo, May 30 (IBNS): A massive earthquake hit Japan on Saturday, shaking buildings and triggering panic in the country, media reports said.

The earthquake measured 8.5 on the Richter Scale, the website of Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The epicenter of the quake is located at latitude 27.9 degrees north and longitude 140.8 degrees east.

The quake was felt in Ogasawara-shoto Seiho-oki region.

No casualty has been reported so far.

No tsunami warning has been issued following the earthquake which hit the nation at 20:24 JST.

According to India Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 7.9 on the Richter Scale.
