Ottawa, Oct 20 (IBNS) Liberal leader Justin Trudeau has been elected as Canada's next Prime Minister as he records a landslide victory in Monday's general election, reports said.
The young leader and the son of a popular former prime minister Pierre Trudeau has defeated Stephe Harper, ending the nine-year rule of the Conservatives.

Truddeau will be the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada.

Results from polls showed a wave of Liberal red, marking victory in Mr. Trudeau’s first campaign as leader. The win marks the first Liberal majority in 15 years.

The party came from behind late in the campaign, with Trudeau  promising "not just a change in government, but a better government."
