Kamala Harris calls Donald Trump to concede the US Presidential race

Phoenix/IBNS: US Vice President and Democrat nominee Kamala Harris Wednesday called her rival candidate Donald Trump to concede the polls and congratulate him for winning the 2024 Presidential race, media reports said.

During her call with Trump, Harris reportedly discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a President for all Americans.

She will also deliver her concession speech in Washington DC later in the day.

Trump raced ahead of Harris, by comfortably winning 291 electoral votes in a fiercely fought election to become the 47th president of the US. Harris could bag only 223, according to CNN.

While Harris called him, Trump had never conceded defeat four years ago when he lost to President Joe Biden.

When he lost the 2020 US Presidential election to Joe Biden, he refused to accept the results and stunned the nation as his supporters stormed the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The riots had then disrupted a joint session of the US Congress called to affirm the presidential election results. A grand jury found him guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Donald Trump, who had a career spanning from being a business tycoon to a TV personality, has won back the White House once again in a historic US election, becoming not just the 47th American President but also the oldest POTUS to hold the office during his inauguration.

Had Harris won, she would have become the first woman, Black, and Asian-American to lead the nation.
