'Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places': Joe Biden on cancer diagnosis

Former US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden on Monday shared a message of gratitude to the public a day after revealing his prostate cancer diagnosis.

In a post on X, the couple thanked their well-wishers for “lifting us up with love.”

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” the ex-US President posted.

Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer, a statement from his office confirmed on Sunday.

The statement said the cancer has spread to his bones.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” read the statement issued by his office.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management," the statement said.

The former President and his family members are currently reviewing his treatment options.

President Donald Trump, Biden's key political rival, earlier extended support to Biden and his family.

In his Truth Social post, Donald Trump wrote: "Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."

Ex-President Barack Obama wrote on X: "Michelle and I are thinking of the entire Biden family. Nobody has done more to find breakthrough treatments for cancer in all its forms than Joe, and I am certain he will fight this challenge with his trademark resolve and grace. We pray for a fast and full recovery."
