Iran targets US allies? Tehran claims fresh strikes on Kuwait, Bahrain

| @indiablooms | Jul 17, 2026, at 04:13 pm

Iran on Friday claimed it had launched drone strikes targeting US-allied countries, including Kuwait and Bahrain, as the United States continued its sixth consecutive day of military operations against the Islamic Republic, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had also struck a US special operations command centre in Syria, American weapons depots and missile launchers in Kuwait, and radar installations in Oman, IRNA reported.

The claims could not be independently verified.

Earlier on Friday, the United States said it had carried out fresh strikes on Iranian infrastructure, including three bridges, as hostilities between Washington and Tehran intensified for the sixth straight day.

The death toll from attacks on bridges in Iran's southern Bandar Khamir rose to seven, the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday, according to Iran International.

Meanwhile, five bridges in Iran's Hormozgan province were hit in overnight and early Friday US airstrikes, the provincial governor's office said, as cited by Iran International.

Providing details of the latest operation, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces—including fighter jets, drones and naval warships—conducted precision strikes on dozens of Iranian military targets. The targets included coastal surveillance systems, air defence sites, military logistics infrastructure and maritime capabilities.

"This was the sixth consecutive night of US strikes against Iran," CENTCOM said in a statement.

"At the Commander in Chief's direction, CENTCOM is further degrading Iranian military capabilities and holding Iran accountable for recent attacks on commercial shipping," it added.

CENTCOM also said that more than 50,000 US service members deployed across the Middle East remain "vigilant, lethal and ready."
