Washington, Apr 24 (IBNS): Former US President  George H W Bush has been hospitalised with an infection, his family spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Bush, 93, is admitted to a hospital in Houston.

Family spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement that the former President was admitted to hospital after contracting an infection that spread to his blood.

“He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering,” the statement read.

Bush had served as the president of the nation from 1989 to 1993.

His son George W Bush also served as the President of the US later.
