Federal judge dismisses Donald Trump's lawsuit seeking to delay Pennsylvania Vote Certification

Washington/Sputnik: US District Judge Matthew Brann has rejected a Donald Trump campaign lawsuit seeking to invalidate mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania.

"At bottom, Plaintiffs have failed to meet their burden to state a claim upon which relief may be granted. Therefore, I grant Defendants’ motions and dismiss Plaintiffs’ action with prejudice," Brann said in the Saturday ruling.

The Trump campaign had argued that since Pennsylvania counties had different approaches in notifying voters about problems with mail-in ballots, the voters’ guarantee of equal protection was violated.

Earlier this week, Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said that the lawsuit, filed against Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, was not about voter fraud but violations of civil liberties.

Brann said the Trump campaign lawsuit had "strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations, unpled in the operative complaint and unsupported by evidence."

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania must now certify official results by Monday, November 23, per state law. According to US media projections, Joe Biden won Pennsylvania by 82,100 votes (1.2 per cent).

On Thursday, US Judge Kevin Brobson invalidated 2,349 mail-in ballots cast in Pennsylvania's Allegheny County because they did not have date marks, a court document revealed.

Major US media outlets have projected Democratic nominee Joe Biden to be the winner of the November 3 presidential election.

Biden declared victory but so did incumbent President Donald Trump, who said his victory was stolen via massive fraud and impropriety.

The Trump campaign has demanded audits and recounts and has filed numerous lawsuits in state and federal courts. Some of the states have said they found no substantial evidence of election fraud.
