Communist Party of China office in Xinjiang attacked, three rioters and two others dead

New Delhi/Beijing, Dec 29 (IBNS): Five people died during during an attack on office of ruling Communist Party of China in Xinjiang, according to media reports on Thursday.

South China Post quoted the news portal of the Xinjiang government to report that a car carrying the attackers crashed into the yard of the office building of the local Communist Party committee in Karakax county at 4.50pm on Wednesday, and a home-made explosive device was ignited.

China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said three rioters who carried out a terrorist attack in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Wednesday killed two people, reported the Chinese official news agency Xinhua.

The attack killed an official and a security worker and injured three others, reported Xinhua.

Xinjiang, a predominantly Muslim region that occupies one-sixth of China, has seen several violent attacks targeted at government and civilians over the past few years, according to media reports.
