Oshawa, Nov 3 (IBNS): GO train service was temporarily suspended on a portion of the Lakeshore East line after a male pedestrian was fatally struck by a VIA train in Canada's Oshawa city on Wednesday night, media reports said.

The accident occurred at east of Rouge Hill Station.

Toronto police confirmed that the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at 9 p.m.

Information about his age was not provided at that time.

The closure lasted for approximately two hours after which Lakeshore East GO line partially reopened to provide regular service between Union and Guildwood and Pickering and Oshawa stations.

The passengers were shuttled by GO buses between Guildwood and Pickering to get to their scheduled trains.
