Brother of Syrian boy in haunting image dies of injuries

Beirut, Aug 21 (IBNS): The elder brother of the 5-year-old Syrian boy rescued from the rubble after an airstrike, whose haunting image went viral on social media, died from wounds inflicted during the severe attack, media reports said on Sunday.

The airstrike on  Aug 17 reportedly destroyed the Omran Daqneesh's apartment.

When Omran was rescued from the rubble following the attack, his bloodied image went viral on social media representing the gruesome condition of the conflict-torn Syria.

The image showed the boy sitting dazed in an ambulance.

The photo had also received many shocking expressions and outrage.

According to reports, his parents and three siblings had then survived the attack but brutal injuries claimed the life of his brother Ali on Saturday.

Their mother also remains to be in critical condition, said reports.

Tension escalated in Aleppo as the fight between the government and rebel forces intensified in recent weeks leaving hundreds dead.
