Berlin attack suspect shot dead in Milan

Berlin, Dec 23 (IBNS): The man, who is suspected to have carried out the attack in Germany's Berlin city recently, has been shot dead by police in Milan, media reports said.

The man has been identified as Anis Amri.

The man, who opened fire on police who asked him for ID during a routine patrol in the Sesto San Giovanni area in the early hours of Friday morning, was "without a shadow of a doubt" Anis Amri, Marco Minetti, was quoted as saying by BBC.

Militant group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the lorry attack on a Christmas market in Berlin which left at least 12 people dead, media reports said on Wednesday.

"The Islamic State’s (IS) ‘Amaq News Agency reported that the December 19, 2016 vehicular attack on a Christmas Market in Berlin, Germany was carried out by 'a solder of the Islamic State'," a SITE Intel Group report stated.

According to media reports, Monday night, a man ploughed a truck through a Christmas market in the heart of the German capital, killing 12.
