Lufthansa to provide service for unaccompanied children on air

| @indiablooms | Jul 18, 2019, at 06:55 pm

Cologne: No need to worry for unaccompanied children on a flight. German Airline Lufthansa has started a special service to take the responsibility of children who travel alone on air.

This Lufthansa special service can be booked on request for children aged 5 to 17 years. If a child is between 5 and 11 years old, they may only travel alone provided they use the support service or are accompanied by a person who is at least 12 years old.

The special service cannot be booked online and may only be booked via the Lufthansa Service Center or a travel agency. There all the necessary information will be given and young passengers will also be given a small yellow Lufthansa shoulder bag. This is used to store all important travel documents such as a flight ticket, passport, and care form and also serves as an identifying feature. The bag will have to be worn so that it is visible throughout the journey.

During the flight, young passengers will be well-cared-for by the flight attendants, and they can ask them questions or go to them with problems at any time. They’ll get something to play with while on board, and they might even get a glimpse into the cockpit and get to know the pilot.

In Frankfurt and Munich there is a specially designed Lufthansa Family check-in area.

In some airports one can even accompany his child to the gate. In Frankfurt and Munich, there are some wonderfully equipped childcare rooms available for unaccompanied minors.
