Paris, May 20 (UNI): The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been closed to visitors after a man was found climbing the iconic structure on Monday without authorization, local media reported.

The landmark's Twitter account said simply that it was "closed until further notice" but, according to LCI broadcaster, the closure was caused by a man who climbed all the way to the top of the tower.

The broadcaster suggests, citing reports, that the man is threatening to commit suicide.

The police have cordoned off the area around the Eiffel Tower.
