Royal Challengers Bangalore react to Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal

Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday reacted to Virat Kohli's controversial dismissal against Mumbai Indians (MI) in an IPL match, sharing the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) rule on Leg Before Wicket.

The incident happened in the 19th over, when Dewald Brevis trapped Kohli lbw.

While the on-field umpire gave out, Kohli reviewed the decision.

Since the ball was close to the bat's edge and pad, the TV umpire went with the on-field umpire's decision which forced a fuming Kohli to return to dugout and missed out on a half-century.

Kohli displayed his disappointment by smashing his bat onto the ground while heading back to dug-out on Saturday.

Reacting on the situation, RCB tweeted: "We were just reading through the MCC Laws of Cricket for LBW decisions, and here's what we found. Unfortunate that Virat Kohli had to walk back disappointed after a brilliant knock."

As per MCC Laws of Cricket 36.2.2, "If the ball makes contact with the striker's person and bat simultaneously, this shall be considered as the ball having first touched the bat."

In the match, RCB opener Anuj Rawat and former skipper Kohli put up a stellar show and chased down 152-run target with nine balls to spare.
