Pollard shines in Mumbai's 5 runs victory over KKR

Mumbai, May 15 (IBNS) A brilliant final over by Kieron Pollard helped Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by five runs and survive their chances to qualify to the next round of the Indian Premier League here on Thursday.

Posting 171 for four on the scorecard,Mumbai restricted KKR at 166 for seven.

Yusuf Pathan had nearly snatched away the match but Pollard picked up his wicket in the 20th over to ensure a victory at the end for the side which won the IPL in 2013.

Smashing five fours and a six, Pathan was playing some of his natural shots in his 37-ball knock.

Gautam Gambhir (38),Shakib Al Hasan (25) failed to convert the start they got in the innings.

Hardik Pandya hit 31-ball 61 and added 92 runs in the fifth wicket partnership with Pollard (33) which helped the side post 171 runs.

The pair helped in recovering after the Mumbai side were reduced to 79 for four.

Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets for KKR.
